I was asked to join Christian Dior Couture in Paris, as the only stagiaire to assist the knitwear design team for the following collections:
- Pre - Fall 2016
- Haute Couture Spring / Summer 2016
- Fall 2016-17 Ready-To-Wear
- Cruise / Resort 2017
Key responsibilities included:

Creative research based on design director brief for the season: story, colours, mood boards, fabrics, textures, knitwear techniques.

Sourcing innovative yarns and materials for 3D design development.

Creating new knit and woven structures through hand knit, crochet, weave, embellishment and machine knit.

2D design development from first sketch ideas through to Photoshop, exploring colour ways and placements.

Preparing costing for production team.

Assisting with technical packs for manufacture.

Photographing and preparing prototypes for fittings.

Updating collection mood boards and online system on a regular basis.

Assisting fittings and making necessary alterations to the prototypes prior to manufacture.

ABOUT
Georgina Mae is an accomplished freelance knitwear designer and consultant from London with experience working in both Paris and London’s knitwear industries.
Georgina began her career in 2010 studying at Central Saint Martins and was awarded a First-Class Honours BA in Textile Design, specialising in knitwear. She continued her training at Christian Dior in Paris and Giles Deacon and Jenny Packham in London and created a global forecast for Trend Forecasting company WGSN. She since went on to set up her own Freelance knitwear consultancy, working with womenswear and menswear clients including A.V Robertson and Olubiyi Thomas to develop collections of knitwear for the luxury sector.
Georgina has a diverse technical knowledge of knitwear, working with both hand, domestic and industrial machinery, including crochet. She has a multidisciplinary background in textiles; print, weave and embroidery, allowing her to challenge the status quo of knitwear design. This process is always pre-cursed by meticulous primary research and an ability to adapt to different design aesthetics. She is a creative individual who can perform under pressure and deliver within the fast-paced environment of her chosen industry.
She is a highly motivated, contentious designer energised by the challenges of running her own business whilst pushing the boundaries of Knitwear design.
